Monica Melanchthon attends the General Assembly of the Council for World Mission.

Monica Melanchthon attended the General Assembly of the Council for World Mission as a Resource Person. The Assembly met in Durban, South Africa from the 12-18 of June 2024. Monica delivered the keynote entitled, “Rising to Life: Together in Transformation” to the Women’s Pre-Assembly on the 12th of June. She also led the Assembly in a Bible Study on the theme, “Transforming Power – (1 Samuel 20:1-14)” on the 15th of June 2024.
Monica Melanchthon is attending the 8th Biennial meeting of the Society of Asian Biblical Studies, being held at the Yu-Shan Theological College and Seminary in Hualien, Taiwan from the 10-15 of July 2024. The society will be reflecting on the theme “Indigenous Perspectives in Biblical Hermeneutics.” Several UD folks are attending this event, including Pilgrim student Sarah Callista who is also presenting a paper entitled, “Am I A Dog (Anjing)? Reading Mark 7:24-20 from an Indonesian Peranakan Perspective” to the group on “Gender and the New Testament.”
Monica is President of this Society and will also be presenting a paper on Joshua 5 in a session on “Reading the Bible and Examining Power.”
