Pathways to Uniting Church Ministry
Period of Discernment
In the Uniting Church in Australia, people discerning God’s call in their lives are referred by their congregations and presbyteries into a Period of Discernment (POD). During this time that sense of call is explored and clarified.
Continuing Education for Ministry
Life Long Learning
Pursuing a culture of Life Long Learning enables ministers to experience longevity, sustainability, and collegiality in their ministry. Whether understood as continuing education, professional development (PD), or ongoing discipleship, the commitment to growth in ministry serves the wellbeing of the minister and therefore the wellbeing of the whole church.
Ministry Formation
Pilgrim Theological College prepares people for ordained ministry on behalf of the Uniting Church. The pathway to ordination is in the company of others, and combines community, practice, and theological study.
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
The John Paver Centre is one of 11 Supervised / Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) centres in Victoria. Supervised / Clinical Pastoral Education is a rigorous action-reflection process of education focused on enhancing pastoral identity, skills and responsivenes.
Library
Pilgrim’s campus houses the Dalton-McCaughey library, one of the largest theological collections in Australia, with more than 300,000 volumes.
