Melbourne Graduation
Congratulations to the 15 graduates from Pilgrim Theological College who received awards at the University of Divinity graduation Friday, 21 March at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Pilgrim graduate Alisha Fung (MDiv 2025) was named Vice-Chancellor’s scholar and led the Prayers of Intercession while Rev Assoc Prof Geoff Thompson was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal. Alisha Fung (MDiv 2025) was named a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholar for outstanding academic results, contributions to the life of the college and commitment to integrating her theological learning with life and ministry. The citation for the award reads:
Alisha has consistently achieved outstanding academic results. She has contributed to the life of the college and been a proactive representative among students. Alisha has demonstrated a commitment to integrating her theological learning with life and ministry both within and beyond the church.
Rev Assoc Prof Geoff Thompson, former Coordinator of Studies: Systematic Theology, was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his cultivation of rigorous and respectful theological engagement in the public sphere and the classroom, and contextual integration of scholarly research at the University with leadership in the Uniting Church in Australia. The citation for the medal reads:
Geoff has made an outstanding contribution to the University over the past decade as a faculty member of Pilgrim Theological College, through his cultivation of rigorous and respectful theological engagement in the public square and the classroom, and contextual integration of scholarly research at the University with theological leadership in the Uniting Church in Australia. Geoff has also served the University in diverse leadership roles, including a five-year term as Chair of Examiners, as the inaugural co-convener of the Theology discipline group, and as a member of the Academic Quality and Standards Committee.
