Release of Ties for Rev Deacon Andy Calder PhD

A great crowd celebrated Rev Deacon Andy Calder’s retirement this week after 30 years of ministry in the Uniting Church. Andy is an Associate Faculty member at Pilgrim who has taught Pastoral Care with People with Disabilities and supervised research students. His 2019 PhD thesis used social action research to explore the spirituality of adults with intellectual disability. The research findings called for a response of friendship by faith communities and provided evidence to support advocacy of policy in the National Disability Insurance Scheme. In concluding his placement, Andy hands over directorship of the John Paver Centre to Rev Lauren Mosso who will continue facilitating clinical pastoral education for Pilgrim students.
