It’s been 75 years since the publication of CS Lewis’ novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. What’s so enchanting about the worlds created in children’s fiction — in Narnia, Middle Earth, or the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? How is magic, and theology, portrayed in those series? And what makes them so memorable, well into our adult years? And how does Lewis’ idea of the end fit with Christian theological traditions?

Robyn Whitaker, Associate Professor of New Testament at Pilgrim, was interviewed by Meredith Lake for ABC’s Soul Search along with author, Francis Spufford. The topic of conversation was C.S. Lewis’s Narnia series and particularly the theology of The Last Battle and  how it relates to visions of the end in the Bible and wider Christian tradition.
