Pilgrim and the University of Divinity are committed to supporting students at every step of their theological journey by providing a safe, enjoyable, inclusive, and rewarding learning environment.
To enable this, Pilgrim offers a range of support services available at any time to assist students in getting the most out of their university studies. You are invited to browse the services to find the help you need.

Academic Skills Program
The Dalton McCaughey Library and Pilgrim’s Academic Skills Mentor provide free personalised consultation, workshops, and resources to support, build, and help you develop the study skills that will set you up to succeed in your university studies.
The services at the Dalton McCaughey Library are available to every enrolled coursework and graduate research student at Pilgrim. They can support you to improve your understanding of the assessment tasks, write effectively within the parameters of the university’s Academic Integrity policy, good study practices, referencing and more.
The Academic Skills Mentor works with students in need of ongoing support.

Course Advice
The Registrar’s Office and the Office of the Academic Dean are available to assist students in planning their studies. You can book a one-on-one appointment to discuss matters such as selecting units for enrolment, course planning, checking course progress, credit and RPL application, reducing or overloading your study load, and other associated enrolment and administrative assistance. These services are available in person and online by phone or Zoom.

Library
Upon enrolment at Pilgrim, students can access print collections from the Dalton McCaughey Library (DML) and all libraries affiliated with the University of Divinity. They also gain access to various online resources through the DML and the University of Divinity’s Library Hub, all designed to support their learning and research needs.
DML staff share responsibility for academic and research support, including accessing specialised databases, choosing essay topics, creating outlines, and formatting citations and bibliographies. The DML website provides instructional tutorials and subject guides.
The DML regularly hosts exhibitions that showcase scholarly works related to specific themes and facilitate theologically based discussions on social and political issues in Australia and around the globe. Furthermore, members of the Pilgrim learning community can reserve rooms and spaces for group study and collaborative projects.

Accessibility On Campus
The spaces at Pilgrim are inclusive and are designed to be easily accessible to individuals with mobility restrictions. One can confidently navigate all classrooms and common areas, such as the student kitchen, lounge, library, chapel, restrooms, and café, with ease and independence.

Accommodation
Regional and interstate students can book a room at Maclean House for a student-friendly rate when visiting Melbourne. The accommodation is conveniently located in the heart of Parkville, with easy access to trams in Royal Parade and Swanston Street and a short walk to Lygon Street, which offers abundant cafes and restaurants.
Maclean House is situated less than ten minutes from the college and the Dalton McCaughey Library. It offers a comfortable and serene environment conducive to attending intensive classes. Additionally, it serves as a retreat for those seeking solitude and focus while delving into their studies.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
Pilgrim offers a safe environment for students facing personal, physical, and mental health challenges. Pilgrim and the University of Divinity have established an array of support mechanisms and resources designed to help students succeed and achieve their full potential.
The Academic Dean and the Registrar can organise a customised support plan appropriate to a student’s needs. Please make an appointment with the Registrar and/or the Academic Dean for a confidential, one-on-one discussion.

Campus Safety
Pilgrim promotes an inclusive, respectful, safe and supportive learning environment, both online and on campus.
CTM car park is available for students enrolled in a face-to-face evening class at Pilgrim from 6pm to 9pm. Please inform the registrar’s office to arrange a parking space.
Any behaviors that are concerning, threatening, or inappropriate must be reported promptly. If you are present on campus, please contact a member of the Pilgrim staff or the Safeguarding Officer by emailing study@pilgrim.edu.au.
