This unit addresses performance skills and contemplative listening as well as tools for storytelling from memory. These tools and practices will be identified and explored, drawing on a repertoire of sacred texts and poetry from major religious traditions.
Field work and in-class storytelling are essential. A key assessment task records and reflects on the process of story selection and presentation to an audience in a community context. Attention will be paid to verbal and non-verbal elements, building students’ confidence and capacity to engage their audiences.
