How has the figure of Jesus been visualised, taught, written and sung about in
Australia? What unexpected mid-century perspectives continue to influence
Australian religious and secular culture? The Jesus in Australia Research Project is
running a 2-day symposium focussing on Jesus in the 1950s.
With new research in multiple discipline areas, it’s no nostalgia trip – though there will be lamingtons and a few other mid-century cookery treats. It includes participation in “Christianity in Conversation” and you’ll have opportunity to talk with experts from around Australia.
It’s all happening at Pilgrim (and online), 16-17th April.
Speakers will include Prof. Em. Bill Ashcroft (UNSW), Prof. John Carroll (La Trobe), Prof. Mohamad Abdalla (University of South Australia), Dr Meredith Lake (ABC), Prof. Lynette McCredden (Deakin), Dr Paul Watt (Adelaide), and University of Divinity colleagues.
